2nd Annual Trip to Texas - Day 10

There were rumors of snow in the forecast, which was hard to believe given the mild weather that we had been enjoying all week. We woke up to see light snow flurries, but not a lot of accumulation. The boys have never experienced snow and we spent the morning looking out the windows at the white stuff. Our plan was to spend the morning indoors and then suit up to play in the snow after nap. Well.....

Most of the snow piled up on our truck and the tree branches but melted as it hit the ground. A little snow hangs onto a tree in front of the house. Jared enjoys his milk in festive attire. Everyone looks outside at the snow falling. Grandma lives at the base of a hill, and often gets deer in her yard. We watched as two deer walked around in the tree line. To combat cabin fever, we broke out some crayons.

Wesley and Jared pass the time by enjoying a ride in the office chair. While the boys took a nap, we went outside to play in the snow! There was just enough snow left on the truck to make a few snowballs. Mommy and Daddy square off for a battle.
Daddy took one in the chest.
The snow was falling pretty hard for a little while. Mommy spent most of the time taking pictures. The cactus plant in Grandma's front yard. Mommy and Daddy after their snowball fight. Mommy was almost unable to particiapte in the snowy fun as she did not pack appropriate footwear. A typical Florida girl, she had a pair of flip flops and a pair of heals. Luckily, Grandma wears the same size shoe and was willing to give her a pair to wear along with gloves and a scarf. Thanks Grandma! Unfortunately, our plan to share the fun with the boys was a bad one. The snow let up before the boys woke up from their nap, so they weren't able to go play in it. However, they had fun playing with Pop-pi (pronounced like 'Popeye' the Sailorman). This is what the boys have been saying and it has now stuck. When Pop-pi got home from work, Andrew put on his hat and jacket.
Wes shared Pop-pi's hot tea. Wes had more fun drinking this by the fingerful.
Daddy and Jared relax watching TV. "Two peas in a pod!"
Here is Wes relaxing in Pop-pi's chair. When Mommy would sit in this chair, Daddy would tell her to 'move.' But Wes, he took full advantage of relaxing in his chair.
Here is Jared before bedtime drinking some more milk. He sure loves his milk.

2nd Annual Trip to Texas - Day 9

On day 9 of our vacation, we planned a trip into town to visit the courthouse where Grandma works, and to the store where Grandpa works.

Jared ordered "the usual" for breakfast:waffles, bananas, and "dip it" (yogurt).
Grandma spun the boys in office chairs to keep them occupied for a while.
We took a trip to the West Bear Creek General Store where Grandpa works. The boys were interested in checking out everything. Here they size up some cowboy hats.
Grandma helps the boys look at housewares.
Andrew and Jared were very interested in the batteries.
Jared helped by straightening the bottles of "Pig Out."
Miss Karen shows Andrew the proper method for using a cork gun.
Jared enjoyed taking things off the shelf and putting them back.
Wesley was unfamiliar with this item, so he tried to sweep the floor with it.
Andrew restocks some tape on the display.
Miss Karen and the boys check out hunting and fishing magazines.
Serious readers... We left the General Store and walked across the street to the Kimble County Courthouse where Grandma works. We all piled into a courtroom and invited everyone to come visit. The boys are once again taking a ride in office chairs.
Grandma and Miss Jolene do a few laps around the table.
Wesley watches as Jared throws himself on the mercy of the court. Jared was trying hard to convince us to allow him to run in the hallway that was right outside the courtroom.
We amassed quite a crowd, but this wouldn't last long...
...because the boys wanted to run up and down the halls!
Everyone took up strategic positions to keep the boys in the building.
Andrew poses with Miss Jolene. Andrew typically takes a little while to warm up to 'new' people. However, he loved Miss Jolene immediately. He must remember hanging out with her last year. Last year, he fell asleep in her arms while visiting the courthouse.
We said our goodbyes at the courthouse and headed to a playground nearby. The boys weren't done running. The playground held little interest and Daddy had to chase down Wesley and Jared.
They did get a few minutes of playtime in before we headed out for lunch.
After a much needed nap, the boys watch as Grandpa feeds Lucy and Desi.

2nd Annual Trip to Texas - Day 8

Today is Sunday and there were no plans for the day. We enjoyed the day hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa. By the end of the day, Ms. Jolene had stopped by with something that would offer the boys a great deal of fun. Here are some pictures from our day.

Grandma helps the boys with some puzzles.
Then she had a jam session with Wes on xylophone.
In another attempt to spoil the boys, Grandma lets them play with a roll of tape.
The boys weren't able to get the roll of tape started, so they looked to Grandpa for help.
They were very patient while Grandpa tried to restart the tape.
Grandma came home from the store with three new hats for the boys. Andrew wears his backwards.
Andrew has a Spiderman hat, Wesley took the Elmo hat, and Jared wore a Lightning McQueen hat.
On this day, there was an 'airpane' circling overhead and the boys were doing their best to point it out on each trip by the house. While all of the boys are excellent 'airpane' hunters, Andrew is true 'Fantasy Island' material, "Da plane boss, da plane"
Awwww, just a cute picture.
Grandma tried to keep the boys away from a thorny plant, which soon turned into a game. The disgusted look on Wes' face is priceless.
The boys are running her ragged.
Andrew pulled his hat so low, it made his ears stick out.
Andrew surprises Wesley with a spontaneous hug.
Andrew gets his own surprise when Jared throws his arm around him.
Miss Jolene brought an air mattress by for the boys to jump on.
In our family, jumping is a full-contact sport!
The boys would jump to the edge and into someone's arms. We would then help them somersault back into the action.
"WE...ARE...SPENT!"

While the pictures show what a great time the boys had, nothing beats a little video! Check out the WWF moves from Wes as he throws his body onto the pile. It may look rough but the boys had a great time!
