Soccer - First Practice!

The moment I found out I was pregnant with all boys, I started dreaming about practices and games for a variety of sports; football, baseball, basketball and well... yes, soccer too! I have never been a real soccer fan but it is the team sport that you can play at the age of 3 so, soccer it is. I have stalked the YMCA website for a over a year waiting for the time in which we were within the age limit to play and that time is here!!

We initially thought that practices would begin on September 17th but surprise, our first game is on September 17th. Last weekend, we waited to hear from our coach but heard nothing. We were getting worried but at last, we finally heard from her and learned that our first practice was September 16th with the first game the following morning.

We spent the last week gathering up our gear; soccer balls, soccer socks and our first pair of cleats...
Friday was finally here, our first practice for our first team sport... yay!! The boys were dressed and ready to go. Since we are new to soccer, it's not a surprise that we would wear baseball and basketball shirts to our first soccer practice...
Our practice was at 5:30pm. At about 3:45, I receive a distress message from home with a picture of Jared... asleep! Oh NOOOOOO!!! Our Jared is as sweet as they come until the moment comes when you have to wake him up from his peaceful slumber. When that moment comes, brace for impact because the sweet child that went to sleep wakes up as ANGRY J!!!

Well, all we could do at that point was wait and hope he would wake on his own. But, the time to get ready was upon us, Andrew was ready, Wes was ready and Jared was.... still asleep. We had no choice but to wake him. And, as predicted he was A-N-G-R-Y!

Daddy and I worked together to get him dressed and get everyone in the car to the sweet sounds of "I WANT TO GO HOME" begin repeated in the back seat. We made it to practice and Andrew and Wes were excited to see their buddy Cal and play with the other teammates. Jared, not so much.

Our coaches are Coach Alexis and Coach Hannah. When they arrived, they took a quick roll and then gathered their team together for the first team huddle (minus Jared).
Jared preferred to play in the playground while the introductions took place. Below are the boys with their buddy Cal listening to the Coaches.
How cute are these guys...
They ran a couple laps to warm up. Wes is in the lead...
More warm-up laps...
They boys with their buddy Cal...
Our buddy Cal...
Then it was time for dribbling practice. Wes concentrates and focuses on dribbling. Very good ball control Wessie!
Andrew's turn with his red dragon ball. Andrew was focused on precision over speed...
More dribbling from Andrew...
Oh wait, what is this? Yes, Jared finally woke up and Sweet J returned. At Jared's request, Daddy spun him in the playground and then he was ready to join the team for practice. Good footwork Jared!
Coach Alexis and Coach Hanna address the team; Jared, Wes, Andrew and Cal seen below...
The guys!
Now, let's practice scoring some goals! Jared takes on Coach Alexis...
Andrew's turn...
Now it's time to scrimmage! Gotta love the girl controlling the ball with all the boys following behind...
The little boys in yellow is our obvious star! He was always the one that would end up with the ball...
Here we are again, the pack following our star...
Alright, great practice! High 5's all around...
Hands in - 1 - 2 - 3............. GO COUGARS!!!!
Our cheesy boys with their over cheesy smiles....
Again with the 1-2-3.... .GO COUGARS!!! It was starting to rain at practice so you can see the rain drop on the lens here...
It was a great first practice!
After practice, we headed to CiCi's for Pizza with our good buddy Cal and his family. It was so much fun to dine out with our new little ball players. After we arrived home and had our bath, I walked out of the bathroom to find all of my boys cuddled up watching some YouTube videos. I love these boys, all 4 of them!
We had a great first practice and our first game is tomorrow morning at 10am. I hope we learned everything we need to know in one practice.

Take care,
