Happy Father's Day - Unedited Version

Yesterday, I posted a video of the boys saying 'I love you' and 'Thank you' to Daddy. Let me provide a little of the 'behind the scenes' story...

Daddy stays home with the boys during the week. The primary reason we made this move was to spend time together as a family on the weekend. Well, this leaves very little time for Mommy to do any 'secret' activities with the boys in preparation for Father's Day. The one window of opportunity I have is on Saturday when Daddy gets away for a little while to go grocery shopping and run errands... yes, he does the grocery shopping too! Seriously, he is MY hero!!

On this Saturday, we decided to go to the pool in the morning so Daddy planned to go out in the afternoon. This was my one shot. My window was further compressed because Daddy started is afternoon of shopping while the boys were asleep. Waking the boys was not an option as this would not make for cooperative characters. I estimated I had about an hour and a half to do all of the following activities:

1) Trace hands and feet on construction paper

2) Cut out hands and feet

3) Help boys color hands and feet

4) Dress in "Daddy is My Hero" shirt and take picture

5) Direct video of child saying 'I love you' and 'Thank you' to Daddy

6) Load photo onto computer, crop and print

7) Assemble card with hands, feet, picture and write message to Daddy

Needless to say, I did not think I was going to complete this activity in the time allotted. As such, I was racing around like a chicken with my head cut-off once the boys woke up. I should also mention that while doing all of this, I was trying to make sure the boys did not destroy the house! So, when I took each of them into the room to film their message, I was hoping for cooperative children. Andrew was first and did great! Then, it was Wes' turn... we were hitting it out of the park. Last but not least, Jared... oh sweet Jared. What can I say, well, you will see for yourself.

After Daddy watched his video gift from the boys, I showed him the unedited version. Typical Daddy, he enjoyed the outtakes and requested that I post the unedited version. So, without further adieu, here we go...

Because we were going to the beach, Daddy took extra time at the store to get all of our goodies. We were able to get everything completed and hidden away in the boys room for Daddy. However, I was about to pass out by the time Daddy got home. The next morning, the boys were able to deliver their cards to Daddy as they emerged from their room. He was surprised!

Mike, I hope you had a special Father's Day! You are very special to all of us so I hope we were able to make you feel as special. We love you!

Take care,
