An Afternoon at the Pool!

Today was the first time the boys were able to experience a "real" pool! They have spent many hours in a kiddie pool in the backyard so we decided to up the game and take the boys to the neighborhood pool that opened yesterday. When the boys woke up from nap, we loaded up the family and drove around the corner to the pool.

It was the second day the pool was open this Spring. It was warm out today, approx 85 degrees; however, the water still has not warmed up. It was a cool dip in the pool today. The boys were interested in the pool but once they hit that cool water, the interest faded... quickly!! They were shocked when they entered the cool water but then they were ok.

Here are some pictures from our afternoon:

The boys spent most of the time playing around the stairs...
Andrew was reluctant to get into the water so he stayed up on the deck.... showing off for the ladies...
Wes was relaxed and cool in the water...
Our afternoon was a lot of fun but it was not completely absent from a little drama! Here is Andrew acting out the tragedy entitled "I want the water noodle that another child has but my Mom will not let me take it!" Don't worry, he recovered quickly especially since this was acting! There is definitely an Academy Award in our future...
Jared enjoyed walking up and down and up and down and up and down the stairs. When he would hit the bottom, he kept forgetting that 'the last step is a doozy!'
Wes and Jared hover over the water noodle that another family brought with them. They desperately wanted this forbidden item....
Andrew started to get comfortable on the stairs and he started splashing around. He started high stepping to splash around using his legs. Then, he stepped a little too high and fell into the water. This surprised all of us but he recovered quickly. To signal he was ok, he gives Daddy a fist bump...
Wes is so creative! It took a minute to figure out what he was doing. He would put his foot in the water and then lift it. It looked like a dog lifting his leg at a fire hydrant. However, he was watching the water drip off the shoe.... funny kid!
Andrew kicking and splashing...
Jared - "Look"... "Ha, made you look!" We have no idea what he was pointing at but we looked...
Jared & Daddy... Jared was jabbering away to Daddy. Correction, Jared was jabbering away to the reflection of himself in Daddy's sunglasses...
The boys...
Still staring at the water noodle...
Andrew... still splashing from the safety of the deck...
Andrew - "What are you looking at Mom? I am IN the water!"
We stayed at the pool for over an hour. The boys were great and we had a lot of fun. I have a feeling we will spent quite of few days at the pool during the summer. As it is only April and we are already having 85+ degree afternoons, it is going to be a long hot summer. The boys were not too happy about leaving the pool and tried to keep us there by throwing everything back into the pool; sunglasses, sippy cups, inflatable raft, etc. However, we were able to get our things and the boys into the truck in one trip.

After a busy day with the park in the morning and the pool in the afternoon, the boys were ready for bed and went to sleep quickly. I should also mention that Daddy and I were pretty tired as well. It was a fun filled day but an exhausting day. I can't wait to do it again!

Take care,
