Christmas Eve 2009

We have arrived safely at Grandma Sally's and it is time to celebrate Christmas eve! The boys hung out all day trying to resist the temptations of the big beautiful Christmas tree and all of the interesting boxes with shiny bows. We were really worried about how the boys would react when they were allowed to have contact with a Christmas tree. At home, our tree is set up in a separate room. The boys can see it and wave their arm to turn the lights on but they are not able to get near it. Grandma's tree was completely unprotected.

When we arrived yesterday, we showed the boys the tree and taught them that they do not touch the ornaments but they wave to the ornaments. This was cute and worked for a while. They boys found Santa, babies (Angels) and other interesting items. They would move around the tree getting inches away from an ornament and then wave saying "hi." Here is Grandma showing Wes and Andrew some of the fun ornaments on the tree....
After the boys woke up from their nap, it was time to get dressed and wait for all of our guests to arrive. Andrew was the only one of the guys who would wear his Santa cap for any length of time. You can see that we are still battling the last stages of our colds with runny noses but we are all feeling much much better!
Everyone started to arrive and we were all ready to have our traditional Chili cooked by Grandma and Chicken cooked by Publix. The boys all tried Grandma's chili and enjoyed it. Thank you Grandma...
The Hicks family, our cousins, gave the boys their very first Christmas gift. Rebecca was very anxious to show the boys their gift that she helped them open it. Woo hoo - it is an inflatable baseball bat, ball and tee. We quickly blew it up and had a lot of fun teaching the boys to hit the ball inside Grandma's living room! That will probably be the last time swinging a bat at a ball is met with laughter inside her house. Thank you Mr. Richard, Ms. Susan, Elizabeth, Ryan and Rebecca...
Look, a group shot of the boys!! Their outfits looked so cute on them. Grandma bought all of the children that were at the house on Christmas eve a jingle bell to wear around their neck for the night. The boys got Santa and wore them all night. I should also point out again the wonderful BBB Clothing Exchange! Like the outfits we wore on Christmas last year, the outfits were the courtesy of another all boy triplet family. I love being able to find really high quality clothing for the boys from some other really great families...
Our family on Christmas eve...
It was finally the time we had all been waiting for, the gift exchange! Here are the boys opening their gift from Aunt Pam and Zack. The boys received some really great Pajamas and three Christmas ornaments that hold pictures. Thank you Aunt Pam and Zack...
I am showing off the really cute outfits the boys received from Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim. They really spoiled the boys!! Andrew is also helping to open the digital photo Christmas ornament that they gave to us. Thank you Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim...
Wes was starting to get the hang of the gift opening and proceeded to try and open everything. He did not realize that everything was not for us...
We received new toddler sized pillows for the boys from Grandma. Thank you Grandma...
Andrew plays with a baseball toy given to us by Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim. By spring training we should be knocking it out of the park with all the baseball supplies we received this year! Thank you Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim...
Grandma gave the boys the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas book with her recorded voice reading the story. What a great gift that will be cherished for many years to come! As we put the boys to bed that night, we listed to Grandma read us the story. Thank you Grandma...
Are you tired yet? I think we have already received enough but there is more! The boys received one group gift from Mommy and Daddy on Christmas Eve. The spiral race track was from us to the boys. In this picture, you can also see the bubble blower that Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim gave the boys. Again, thank you Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim...
We also had a gift under the tree from Aunt Laurie! Wes opened the gift and held up a stuffed pig. It was very soft and I could see the wheels turning in each of the boys' heads wondering how to either keep this away from the others or rip it out of Wes' hands to claim it as their own....
Then, we realized that this was not a typical stuffed animal. This special pig sings Old MacDonald Had a Farm... Ei, Ei, Ooo!!
The boys were very interested in this singing pig! It moved around and it's mouth opened to sing. They were in awe of this magical pig. Thank you Aunt Laurie...
What? Another gift from Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim? Yep, we must have been real good this year! Jared is the designated representative to open this gift for the group...
Upon opening the gift, Jared sets his eyes on the beautiful little girl pictured on the box. He must have thought she was the gift! He crawled up on the box to look her right in the eyes...
He then laid down and immediately began planting some big wet soft Jared kisses on her! It was truly love at first sight. Thank you Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim for a girlfriend for Christmas...
Silly Jared! It wasn't a little girl, it was a Sit and Spin! Thank you Uncle Lance and Aunt Kim! Aunt Kim shows Jared how to use the Sit and Spin...
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with family. We must have been good this year because we were overwhelmed with such wonderful gifts. We would be sufficiently supplied with new toys if the gift giving were to end tonight. However, I bet Santa is still planning on making a visit to Grandma's house. At 10pm, our day had concluded and the boys were finally snuggled into their beds and ready for Santa to arrive.

I should also issue a special thank you for Aunt Kim for grabbing our camera to take pictures of all of us opening our gifts! It was great to check the camera and find some pictures with both Mommy and Daddy in them.

Take care,
